The Merriam Parks, Recreation and Community Center Foundation

The Merriam Parks, Recreation and Community Center Foundation was established in 1988 by a small group of visionary individuals. Their mission was to provide funding for programs and equipment, which could not otherwise be provided due to tight operating budgets over the years.

Funding has been provided for programs which serve individuals from toddlers to senior citizens. Through the foundation's efforts the art gallery at the community center has been upgraded to included high quality wall covering and lighting which make art openings at the gallery some of the most well attended events in the art community.

As well as the art gallery, the game room has been furnished with comfortable seating for weekly senior movies. A keyboard has been funded for singing at senior lunches.

Scholarships are provided for qualified family to participate in programs and summer swimming.

In order for members of the public to recognize all our strong community supporters, a Giving Tree was purchased by the foundation and mounted on the wall at the entrance to the community center. Merriam citizens take pride in knowing that so many businesses and individuals have given financial support year after year to make so much possible in our community.

Members of the Foundation serve with pride and pleasure as we work together to continue our efforts to support the Merriam Parks, Recreation and Community Center programs
