A Healing Field® Flag Display

July 1-4, 2006

Merriam, Kansas will play host to the first-ever Healing Field event in the State of Kansas on Saturday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 4, 2006.  The downtown area will be transformed into a beautiful sea of red, white and blue as over 1,000 United States flags (made in the USA) will be on display at the Merriam Marketplace, Irene B. French Community Center and along Merriam Drive.

On Tuesday, July 4 at 10:30 am, the Fields for Freedom volunteers are hosting a community program with local and regional speakers.  The program will be followed by a picnic hosted by the Downtown Merriam Partnership.  The event is well suited to families, military personnel, veterans, individuals, businesses, elected officials and community citizens.

 Schedule of Events:

Wednesday, June 21 —Healing Field Flag Truck Arrival from Utah

Tuesday, June 27– Volunteer Flag Assembly (at Merriam Public Works)

Wednesday, June 28 – Volunteer Flag Assembly (at Merriam Public Works)

Saturday, July 1 –

  • Flag Display Set up (6:30 - 10:00 am)
  • Field Viewing / Sponsor Flags (10 am - 4 pm at the Merriam Marketplace)

    Sunday, July 2 – Field Viewing / Sponsor Flags (10 am – 4 pm at the Merriam Marketplace)

    Monday, July 3 -- Field Viewing / Sponsor Flags (3 pm – 7 pm at the Merriam Marketplace)

    Tuesday, July 4 --

  • Field Viewing / Sponsorship Flags (9 am – 4 pm at the Merriam Marketplace)

  • 10:30 am Community Program at the Merriam Marketplace

  • Noon - 4 pm "Old-Fashioned 4th of July" Picnic (sponsored by Downtown Merriam Partnership)

  • 2 pm - “Of Thee We Sing”  Community singing of "The Star Spangled Banner" and other patriotic songs www.OfTheeWeSing.org
