EVENT SCHEDULE

FYI: The Healing Field will be open daily from 10:30 to Dusk. There is no charge for admission. Flags can be sponsored In Honor or In Memory for $30 each. The sponsored flag will carry the name of the sponsor and the honoree. And if you like we will get your flag and tags to you later or you can retrieve after the Closing Ceremony on Memorial Day.

There will be water for $1; American Car Flags $1; and instant cameras
( I suggest you bring your own ) for sale - no other concessions.

Saturday May 23rd at 8:00 AM
Community volunteers from churches, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, other civic groups, veterans, parents of soldiers will start posting all 1500 3' x 5' American Flags on 8' poles in a military grid.

The Murfreesboro City Fire Department will bring out a ladder truck and a tower to suspend a HUGH flag over the entrance to the field.

**10:30 AM there will be an opening ceremony: **

On display will be the "Fallen Soldier Memorial" Motorcycle on Saturday ONLY.

The Murfreesboro City Fire Department Color Guard will start the ceremony at 10:30.

Followed by the "Pledge of Allegiance".

Steve Smith, Professor at Middle Tennessee State University will sing the "National Anthem".

Bagpipe player Greg Cutcliff, will play "America The Beautiful".

Chaplin Phillips will do the invocation, followed by Greg playing "Amazing Grace".

Senator Bill Ketron will say a few words

Brigadier General Ike Osborne will speak about the sacrifices our nation's warriors and their families make today in fighting the global war on terrorism.

Greg will play another patriot song

Club President Rebecca Talley will welcome our guests and open the field.

 WGNS Radio with Bart Walker doing the MC will do a live broadcast of the opening ceremony.

John Ward of Mid TN Mobile DJ's will be playing patriotic music during the morning.

Closing Ceremony Monday evening May 25th at 6:30 PM:

 "The Pledge of Allegiance".

Bagpiper Greg Cutcliff  play "America The Beautiful"

National Guard Chaplin Phillips will do the benediction

Greg will play "We Were Soldiers - Lament of St. McKenzie".

Brigadier General Ike Osborne will speak on how important it is for our local communities to support the families of our fallen angels and the ultimate sacrifice paid by those warriors and their families.

Then the names of the Tennessee Fallen Soldiers ( approximately 110 )
in the war on Terrorism will be read by:

    Murfreesboro City Police Chief Glenn Chrisman

    Police Department Major Clyde Adkison

    Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess

    State Senator Bill Ketron ( Past National Exchange Club President )

    Former State Rep John Hood ( Past National Exchange Club President )

The ceremony will be concluded with Sgt. Ed Stevens playing "Taps".
