The Exchange Club of Lynchburg will host the temporary Healing Field Flag Memorial from July 1 – 4, 2006.

Imagine a sea of red white and blue this Independence Day. Over 2800 American flags will stand eight foot tall in perfect rows and columns across a field of green on Candler’s Mountain Road between the Lynchburg Emergency Communications Center and Liberty University.

The sacrifice and memory becomes real and tangible when you see this breathtaking display in honor of soldiers who have served and sacrificed to keep America free. These young men and women have given their lives in the line of duty and met the call to arms with courage.

This field honors all service men and women past and present who have served and continue to serve, that our land remains free. This breathtaking display will be free and open to the public. Bring a camera and your family. Join us as we honor, remember, and heal.

The event will begin on Saturday July 1st. We will culminate the Soldier's Field with a high level, patriotic ceremony on July 4, 2006. Volunteers from the community are invited to participate and help assemble the flags and place them on the field.

SPONSOR IT, OWN IT, TAKE IT HOME AND FLY IT PROUDLY
The patriotic event is hosted by the Exchange Club of Lynchburg. These flags need your sponsorship. You can sponsor a flag and on July 4th you can take your flag home to continue your tribute and honor to our great country. Each 3'x5' flag comes with and eight foot pole and the rebar to post it in your lawn.

2,900 flags will be flown, honoring the military troops that have given their lives in defense of our country in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
