November 13 & 14, 2004


The Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans are sponsoring a Veteran’s Day Ceremony with the support of the U. S. Army’s 3/360th Training Support Battalion.

The ceremony is scheduled for November 13, 2004, to honor surviving veterans and fallen soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. All veterans, from WWI to present, will be honored with a Joint Services Color Guard presentation and a Memorial presentation with honors from each separate Military service.

A corridor of flags will be posted for each war (ie: WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Shield/Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom) with photos from the war along each corridor. At the end of each corridor, a Joint Services Honor Guard will place a fallen soldier’s memorial to honor those soldiers who have died in that war. The placing of the memorials will be conducted by soldiers in a time honored ceremony complete with Taps and a 21-Gun Salute. A Scottish Pipe Band, the 96th Infantry Auxiliary Band, and 12-year old, Ms. Jennifer Pierce will provide music during the ceremony. Distinguished speakers will present remarks to commemorate the occasion,


A Blackhawk helicopter, Army Humvee, and other military equipment will be on display and concessions will be available. Bring the kids to climb the U.S. Army’s Climbing Wall. The entire event is free and is designed for the entire family.

The Memorial Field will be setup at the Murray City Park Softball Field, and will be open to the public for viewing on November 13, from , and on November 14, from . The military commemoration ceremony will take place on the 13th at 12:00, .
