Healing Field tribute to WWII Veterans

2408 flags will fly on Richardson Field Pearl Harbor Hawaii this December 7th. in honor and memory of the US casualties from the 1941 attack.  Pearl Harbor survivors and WWII veterans will be greeted with the emotional and healing patriotic display this year during the 66 year anniversary.

In addition to the US Flags, a display of Hawaiian flags will also represent casualties in the current conflict of those Hawaii citizens and military deployed from Hawaii installations.

Each year thousands of WWII veterans travel to Pearl Harbor to commemorate this yearly milestone in our nations history. Those who find it difficult or impossible to travel the distance to Hawaii, also attend local or regional commemoration ceremonies.

Healing Field flag memorial event was an idea born out of the 9/11 tragedy and quickly became a national movement for a larger array of causes, commemorations and purposes. Pearl Harbor is to WWII what 9/11 is to the war in the Middle East.

Local veterans groups and service organization are committed to volunteer with the organizing and set up of the event.

The memorial is sinking! This Healing Field event will also raise awareness and funds to help with the USS Arizona Memorial fundraising efforts. read more

December 5 - 10, 2007
This free event is co-sponsored and supported by the American Legion Department of Hawaii

The proceeds from this US Flag memorial
will benefit the following charties

The Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund -- The USS Arizona Memorial's museum and visitor center at Pearl Harbor is facing destruction. Engineers have determined that the USS Arizona Memorial's museum & visitor center must be replaced within as few as 2 years before it must be abandoned for safety reasons.  Originally built on a landfill and designed to settle slightly over time, the facility has settled up to 30 inches in some places, far exceeding expectations.  As a consequence, water intrusion and uneven settling is compromising the structural integrity and safety of the site.

Military Family Support Fund allocated by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Hawaii Foundation The ALA supports and funds many local programs that benefit veterans, current family readiness groups, youth organizations and local emergency programs.

Pearl Harbor USS Utah Memorial -  The Healing Field flag memorial will kick off a one year campaign to fund a fitting monument at the USS Utah Memorial for future veterans and visitors to view proudly.
