Child Abuse Healing Field presented by
The Exchange Club of Sugar Land
April 1-10, 2005 |
| Did you know that there were over 1,500 cases of child abuse reported in Ft. Bend County last year? |
 |
The Exchange Club of Sugar Land will create a Child Abuse Healing Field of over 1,500 3’ x 5’ American flags. The flags will create awareness of the reported cases of child abuse in Ft. Bend County in 2004. The money raised from the sale of the flags will be donated to local Child Abuse Prevention Agencies.
The Healing Field flags will be highly visible from the Southwest Freeway in the field between Methodist Hospital and First Colony Mall.
Individuals can sponsor flags for the Healing Field at $25.00 each.
To sponsor Healing Field flags, log on to our website at http://flags.ecsl.org.
The Healing Field will remain standing from April 2 through April 10. Sponsored flags will not be delivered. They must be picked up on Sunday, April 10 between 12:00-5:00 p.m.
Unclaimed flags will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America.
Child Abuse Prevention Month and The Healing Field will kick off on April 1, at 6:30 p.m. in front of the newly dedicated Sugar Land City Hall. Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace will preside over “The Light of Hope” community candle lighting event presented by Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend County and The Exchange Club of Sugar Land. Some flags will be posted that evening.
Beginning
with the Field Dedication Ceremony at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2,
all remaining Healing Field flags will be posted. Individuals may post
their own sponsored flags if they wish.
Volunteers are needed to help create the Healing Field. If you would like to volunteer contact: Lydia Bourg lbourg@omsi.net
